Meeting Minutes
September 17, 2014
Call To Order
The Chairman called to order a meeting of the Holland Finance Board at 7:33 PM on September 17, 2014 at the Holland Town Hall.
Roll Call
Finance Board members present: Andrew Harhay, Ernest Fancy, John Ebersold and John Phelps.
Approval of Minutes
The draft minutes of the August 20, 2014 had been previously distributed for review. The minutes were approved unanimously, as written.
New Business
- There was unanimous approval to reimburse Ernie Fancy for the $50 registration fee to attend the MMA seminar “What’s New In Municipal Law” on September 25, 2014 in Holyoke.
The Tri-Town BOS have asked their Finance Board Chairs to attend their next meeting on September 30, 2014 in Wales; the topic will be ambulance service for the three towns.
The Chairman provided information on the Association of Town Finance Committees Annual Meeting on Saturday, October 18, 2014 in Franklin. The meeting will include many interesting workshops and the opportunity to network with members from other Massachusetts towns. Members were asked to check their schedules and let Andy know if interested in attending.
Open Issues
- The members reviewed the memo and meeting schedule to be provided to all departments/committees to initiate the FY2016 budget development process; both were approved for immediate distribution.
- The Chairman indicated that the Town Accountant has expressed interest in considering other auditing firms to perform the FY14 financial statements audit. The benefit of periodically changing firms to bring in ‘fresh eyes’ has been discussed in prior Finance Board meetings and the members indicated their support for such a change.

October 1, 2014 at 7:30 PM. [This meeting was subsequently cancelled by the Chair.]

The Chairman adjourned the meeting at 8:45 PM.
